WEEK 3 TERM 1
Thank you to all the parents that attended the Parent teacher night and welcome BBQ. It has been wonderful chance to get to know you and each other.
Thank you to Janine (Hannah’s mum) who has volunteered to be our class rep. If you are able to help with the hotdog stall on a Friday morning please let Janine know.
Fine Motor
On Friday last week we began our fine motor program. A combination of scissors, pen to paper, sensory and finger manipulation. This was very successful and I’m sure they would have told you about the rice play. Some children had difficult holding the pencil and scissors. Here are some focus points to tell the children:
Scissors Grip
For single loop scissors, ensure the thumb is place in the top loop, the middle finger in the bottom loop, and the index finger supporting underneath. For scissors with a double loop at the bottom, ensure the thumb is placed in the top loop and the index and the middle fingers in the bottom loop. ‘Check your finders’ or ‘Thumb on top, Thumbs on top, scissors to the glue pot, thumbs on top.’
Swimming
This week is swimming. Just a reminder that it is important that every child has every item of clothing named. Either Melissa or Sylvia and myself will help the children get changed and put their shoes etc back on.
Prayer Book
Class prayer has been wonderfully successful this week and we have been learning about the thank you coat. The book will be going home from child to child around the class. Please make a prayer with your child and send it back the next day when it comes to you.
Before School
This week we will join the rest of the school in the class routines. Children will need to wait in the undercover area until the teacher comes on duty at 8.20. At that time they can put their bag away at the classroom and go out and play on the netball court until the bell rings. They will not be able to enter the room until the bell at 8.40am.
Talk Time (Show and tell)
This week is your child’s choice. There will be a bucket in the room that the child is to place their item in. It will stay there and will only be taken out during show and tell time.
