WEEK 4 TERM 1
Children’s work
Some questions have arisen that children are not bringing work home. Just to let you know that during Prep, teachers have to keep the children’s samples for assessment purposes. You can look at them anytime but they are kept in a folder in the classroom and are sent home at the end of the semester.
Box Collection
If you have boxes at home, please save them and bring them in to the classroom. We have a large box in the classroom where we collect boxes (prescription boxes, biscuit boxes, cereal boxes, egg cartons etc) for craft and construction.
Dress up and old toys
If you are having a tidy out and are throwing out old clothes or toys please consider donating them to Prep. We love hats bags scarves, cars etc…
Can you help?
I will leave a box outside the classroom of work that needs to be cut out. If you have any time it would be very helpful if you are able to take things home and cut them out and return them to school.
Library
Children visited the library last week for the first time. Every Wednesday your child can borrow 1 book and return the book from the previous week. Children will use their homework bags to borrow with.
Swimming
Thank you so much for the excellent job you did of labelling all your child belongings. The children did very well at swimming though found it very tiring. This week the children are swimming MON, TUES, THURS.
Buddies
Every child is paired up with another child from year 4. We will meet with the buddy class once a week to do an activity. The point of the buddy system is for a prep to feel they have another student in the school that they can talk to if they are having a problem. Hopefully the buddy will make a point of seeking them out during playtime and developing a rapport with the prep child.
Happy Birthday

Opening school mass.
Thank you to the parents who came to opening school mass. It was great to see so many parents there.
Lost property
We are beginning to form quite a collection of lost property. I have placed them in a box outside the room. If you are missing any lunch containers etc.. please check the box.
Before School
Just a reminder that children are not to come into the classroom before the bell at 8.40. Children will need to wait in the undercover area until the teacher comes on duty at 8.20. At that time they can put their bag away at the classroom and go out and play on the netball court until the bell rings.
Last week we looked at circles and squares. This week we will look at triangles and rectangles.
